Republicans are facing the biggest political backlash in modern American history – and it’s coming from the grassroots of their own party.
For the past few weeks, the GOP’s health care reform fiasco has been dominating the headlines and the situation came to a dramatic point this past week when Republican leaders in the Senate failed to pass a repeal of Obamacare, despite holding a majority in the Senate.
Now grassroots conservatives from across the United States are voicing their anger at Mitch McConnell, John McCain, and the rest of the RINOs who are continually holding back our progress on key issues.
The Republicans promised us for years that they would repeal Obamacare and now they aren’t doing it!
John Daniel Davidson, a conservative analyst based in Texas, published a devastating response to the Republicans’ antics in the media this week, writing, “I’m a conservative – and now I see voting Republican is a waste of time.”
Read more, from Davidson’s latest piece published in the Guardian:
For seven years, Republicans have campaigned on promises to repeal and replace Obamacare with a “free-market” health care system. They wrested control of the House and the Senate from Democrats on these promises. Donald Trump– along with every other GOP presidential candidate – campaigned on it last year. Republicans voted time and again for politicians that trumpeted their hatred of Obamacare and swore to do something about it.
However, as thousands of angry conservatives have pointed out over the last week – now that the GOP establishment has control over everything in Washington D.C., they still haven’t taken action to repeal Obamacare.
The pundits and consultants are apparently worried that the Obamacare repeal could be temporarily unpopular with voters. However, that is absolutely no reason to go back on your promise – and Republicans will soon pay the political price for the tricks they’re pulling now.
“Unwilling to take the political heat of repealing and replacing Obamacare as they promised, Republicans are in effect enshrining Barack Obama’s signature legislative achievement – and making it their own,” Davidson wrote. “… There is a grave danger for Republicans in all of this. If there’s one thing the 2016 presidential election should have taught the GOP establishment, it’s that Americans are disgusted with politics as usual – the showboating, the sloganeering, the canned talking points and the pervasive, poisonous insincerity of it all.”
Americans have spoken and we want bold new leadership in Washington D.C. – it’s time for the old establishment to move out of the way so the rest of us can move forward with the conservative agenda to Make America Great Again!
